St John the Baptist
Project Location: Knaresborough
Project Background Brief
Sycamore lighting were approached by lighting designer Brian Johnson of Pentad Design to design and commission a lighting control system for St John's the Baptist in Knaresborough. The existing lighting was to be replaced by energy efficient LED lighting supplied by UK lighting manufacturer ACDC. As well as energy saving capability, the client was looking to create dramatic lighting scenes which could be flexibly controlled, enabling lighting settings to be changed for various uses including daily opening, church services, concerts and events.
Particular Challenges
All work undertaken on this Grade I listed building had to be approved by English Heritage.
Wiring had to be kept to an absolute minimum and hidden within grout lines or painted in to blend in with the masonry.
Because of the wiring constraints it was decided that Rako's wireless range of dimmer modules and keypads would be used throughout the installation.
Special Project Features
Due to no on-site wifi all the dimming equipment was programmed using Rako's RF programming interface.
Products used
RDA800 1-10V dimmers
RCM070 Wireless keypads
WRB100 Booster module
RAMPI programming interface
